  1. What was Jesus in the center of?

 

2.What was finished ?

 

TWO REASONS FOR THE CROSS TODAY:

  1. God is a God of love and justice .

 

2. Sin is the greatest act of treason.

  • THE HARD TRUTH ABOUT HARD DECISIONS (John 19:1-16):

 

  • WHAT TO KEEP IN MIND WHEN MAKING A COSTLY AND HARD DECISION:

 

  • Fear is not a failure.

 

  • Failure is not final until it’s final.

 

  • It’s always better to lose what I cannot keep  in order to gain what I cannot lose . (Matthew 10:28, Matthew 16:26)

 

  • If doing the right thing kills my dream , it probably would have been a nightmare . (Matthew 6:31-34)

 

  • If doing the right thing costs me what I currently have and love, I will always end up with far more  than what I gave up . (Matthew 19:29-30, Proverbs 29:25).

    • Your grief will turn to joy.

 

  • WHAT WE NEED TO KNOW (Isaiah 55:9, 1 Peter 4:12-13, Revelation 6:9-11, 1 Peter 1:6-7, Isaiah 42:3):
  1. It’s normal to be confused when God is at work.

 

2. In this fallen world, heartache and grief are unavoidable.

 

3. If we stick with Him, Jesus promised that our grief will be turned to joy.

 

4. Our faith is probably a lot weaker than we think.

 

5. God’s grace and mercy are always a lot greater than we think.

  • It is for our good/advantage that Jesus is our advocate in heaven and the Holy Spirit is our advocate on earth. (1 John 2:1)

 

 

  • What would happen if God’s people, who are called by His name, did not grieve the Holy Spirit by thoughts, words, and deeds that offend Him? (Ephesians 4:30)

 

 

  • If God (Father/Son/Holy Spirit) is for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:31-34)

 

 

  • Do not blaspheme or resist the Holy Spirit! (Mark 3:22, 28, 29, Hebrews 3:7-11, Romans 15:13)

SETTING THE SCENE:

 

TWO EARTH-SHATTERING MOMENTS:

  1. Jesus makes Himself the lowest servant in a room full of His servants.
  2. Jesus announces His betrayer is in the room.

 

TWO LIFE-CHANGING MOMENTS (John 13):

  1. When we shut our hearts to Jesus, we open them to the Devil.
  2. When you belong to Jesus, God is at work in your life.

 

THE CROSS, THE GLORY:

  1. Jesus declares the cross as supreme glorification.
  2. Christ must first die for Peter before Peter can die for Him.
